At the winery, we work to preserve Gewürztraminer’s primary fruit qualities by fermenting and aging the wine in stainless steel. To make our Gewürztraminer even more interesting, the whole vintage was sur-lie aged to develop added mouthfeel texture. The result is a dry white wine boasting aromas of jasmine, nectarine and honey and flavors of melon, peach and clove with a creamy palate and clean finish. A perfect crisp aromatic white wine that pairs well with Thai curries, spicy Indian dishes, or your favorite cheeses.

The second vintage of our Winery Exclusive Gewürztraminer comes from the Wheelhouse Vineyard located in the North Delta Region of the Clarksburg Appellation. Planted in 2009, the 38.40 acre block enjoys highly organic soil and cool Delta breezes that are prefect for this aromatic varietal. The cool mornings and evenings with warm days make it an ideal growing location for Gewürztraminer - the afternoon sun builds the fruity characteristics, while the chill of the evening helps retain crisp flavors.
The heavy rains in December 2014 coupled with sporadic spring storms slightly eased the early season vine stress due to California’s ongoing drought conditions. Warm windy days and cooler than average nights in April and May led to slow crop development as well as small berry and cluster sizes. We did see warmer than average temperatures in June and typical July weather that resulted in an early, intense harvest with lower yields on average. The season began almost three weeks ahead of normal and was completed by the end of September. Throughout the season, we worked hard to keep up with the fast paced harvest to deliver winegrapes at the optimal time with our winemaking team loving the concentrated colors and fruit flavors.
